I’ve decided, I need to get more films made and I need to do it now. With my long term editing assistant and closest friend from years of University together – Jymmy Stardust/Kayla Howard – moving to Canada in October to pursue her love of production design (and getting the f*ck out of Brisbane), means of course, I need to one up her and make a decent film without leaving the country for exotic men and women.

Well, more to the point, I need to follow her lead and take real steps towards my creative career.

The other woman in my life that is to blame for my involvement in the filmmaking world is Andrea Schaul. Because she fails to have a personal website, Twitter or useful Facebook, I present you with this picture:

When I was a wannabe filmmaker teen, my motivation was to make horror/gore films that send the audience packing out of the cinema with the opening sequence. I still love horror but Startail Tumbler won’t be about short term, cheap thrills of making my audience hate me.

With Startail Tumbler, I aim to create films and other media that will give important issues in our communities a platform to hopefully educate and motivate a wider audience to be more involved in their community. The current project that is in its development stage will be Startail Tumbler’s first feature film. The aim of the film is to reduce the stigma around mental illness.

So to Kayla and Andrea, and the other creative types involved in my life at different points: There is no famous writer or director I look up to, it is all of you I love, admire and strive to be. Stay yourselves and keep creating!

Unicorns are wonderful creatures. They are made of sparkles and happy stuff. Dave likes to argue that Mr Unicorn isn’t made of such things. I disagree. I guess maybe he doesn’t like the competition.

Unicorns love grass and rainbows and candy. Didn’t you know?

We hang with our friend, Ellie, who works at New Zealand Natural.  Ellie has known Twitch for awhile and I only met this fine bird in the last few months. But our relationship has grown and we’re now super best friends. Pigeons are the cutest creatures in the world. Twitch might nom a bit too much take out food but the grey feathers are so sexy. I really like Twitch.

One day, we met up at the ice cream cart as usual and I sat next to Twitch. We were waiting for Twitch’s friend, Lumpy (appropriately named for his lack of toes on one foot) but he totally blew us off! Rocked up, leeched some food and left. What a douche. Twitch was in a bad mood after that but I dived in after being reassured by Ellie… I asked Twitch if we could get married. The pigeon fly away from next to me, then settled back down a few meters away, glaring. “REJECTEEEEEEEEED!”, Ellie yelled at me. A pigeon rejected me.

City pigeons are skinny hipsters as you can see above. They just wander around looking badass. Though, this is one of my favourite pigeon article that I first saw this in the Brisbane MX.
